The written word might have been published in many different ways over the years, but irrespective of the format, the talent of writing will never die out while there is a story to be told.
Blackpool Writers’ Circle was established many years ago, before the Second World War. As it did with many similar things, the war years put a stop to the group, but not to be defeated the group was started afterwards when peace time came again, so that writers could meet and exchange ideas with other amateur writers. There have been many members over the years, but even now decades later, the idea remains the same.
You don’t have to be a particular age, or have a particular ability to join this group, your enthusiasm for the written word is all that’s required. So if you have an interest in writing and want to meet people with similar interests, then this is the group for you.

At the bi-weekly meetings on alternate Mondays, members read out their work, there are exercises in writing, and occassional workshops. It’s a great way to help each other along, through the gathered wisdom and advice of a group of like-minded people. There are also events, including speakers and outings, which they discuss and arrange beforehand with members at meetings.
The Circle also runs its own Annual Competitions (where Stories, Children’s Stories, Articles, Poetry and such like are submitted).
The aim of Blackpool Writers’ Circle is to support Members’ interest in writing, and to provide advice and encouragement to new Members in an informal and friendly setting.
Anyone is welcome to go along to have a look and see what they think. If you like what you see and want to continue going along, then after two meetings you’ll be expected to pay the Annual Fee of £15.00 if you wish to continue.
All subscriptions are used for Competition Prizes, and other similar running costs.
There are a number of well-published writers of novels, short stories and articles among the Members. Come and join them!
