In June 2025, bosses at Pleasure Beach Resort confirmed the name of their new £8.72m 2026 gyro swing ride… It’s going to be AVIKTAS and occupies the space of the now-demolished Bowl-A-Drome building.
The new Blackpool attraction had been revealed as ‘Project 2026’ at the season launch event back in March.
Aviktas – New Gyro Swing Ride at Pleasure Beach!
In August 2025, members of the public had the chance to include their own sealed letter in a time capsule buried in the foundations of the Aviktas site. More than 200 fans responded from Britain and across Europe. They’re now sealed in the footings with memorabilia, blueprints and photos.
And on Monday 10 November 2025, the new ride arrived on site, ahead of its 2026 launch.
Aviktas will be the tallest of its kind in the UK, dwarfing similar rides across the country by almost double. The giant spinning pendulum structure swings through 120 degrees, rising a whopping 138 feet into the air! There are other gyro swings in the UK but none anywhere near like the same size. It’s almost double the size of the nearest, that’s Drayton Manor’s similar, but smaller, 74′ Maelstrom ride.

Fly over the sea!
With a feeling of flying, 40 riders at a time will go soaring 120 degrees skywards. Facing forwards with legs dangling, you’ll enjoying sweeping views of the coast. And at the top of the 138′ rise, you’ll feel completely weightless. It’s another new spectacle too, for onlookers along the Promenade. Sited at the north and close to the edge of the park it’s going to feel like you’re being swung over the sea!
