Cafes and kiosks at Blackpool North Pier

There’s the British seaside favourite of fish and chips – and of course ice cream. Choose from light snacks, meals, sandwiches, cakes and drinks. Various other kiosks sell gifts, sweets, records and clothes, and no self respecting pier would be complete without a resident fortune teller. Visit Gypsy Petulengro to see what the future holds for you!

Watch the Starlings

North Pier is one of a few places in the country where you can see the amazing sight of a starling murmuration.

Throughout the months of late autumn and winter, the Piers (especially North and Central) are a roost for tens of thousands of birds. Each night when they arrive at dusk they create a spectacular display known as a murmuration. They swoop and glide as one huge, black mass as they fly to the pier to bed down for the night.

History and Heritage

Blackpool North Pier is an amazing structure – especially when you consider that it was built in 1862/3! Built by Eugenius Birch, the eminent architect of the day, it’s the oldest remaining example of his work that’s still in use.

It’s seen wars and fires, shipwrecks and changing fashions. But it’s still standing and entertaining holiday makers now as it did back then. There’s loads of interesting information about the history and heritage of Blackpool North Pier here.

Don’t forget to stop by and say hello to one of the original glove puppets – it’s where Sooty comes from!

Circus are an indie rock band from Blackpool, UK. Their debut single ‘Talk’ was released April 12th, 2024, followed by ‘Keep Me In Line’ in June & ‘In The Mist’ in September. Initially playing support slots at Bootleg Social, they have gone on to secure a headline slot in June 2024. Their most notable support slot was Birmingham for Indie giants Swim Deep on their 2024 tour. The lads released their debut EP, ‘I’m Outside’ in December 2024. ‘Their clever use of guitar hooks and riffs captures the sounds of The Smiths and The Cure in the early 80s, whilst their powerful vocal delivery and harmonies bring us bang up to date, echoing the sounds of The Strokes and the DMAs’. – Pete Rooney, RGM Magazine.

Blackpool’s favourite acoustic duo Blueshell played at the top of the tower & now they’re gearing up to release original music of their own! This team up of local legends Daisy Atkinson & Rhy Grooves is 100% not to be missed.

‘THE REMEDIES
The Remedies are a 4 piece band who originally formed in 2001 with a shared love of rock and roll guitar music. The band played their songs extensively at shows and festivals across the UK and quickly established a loyal following whilst recording and generating radio-play. After breaking up in 2009, the band re-formed in 2024. They released a new single ‘Murder in Kind’ with Steve Gorman (Black Crowes, Stereophonics) in 2025 ahead of their next single ‘Britannia’ in summer 2025′. A great live act, not to be missed’

Apollo’s Chariot, Blackpool’s own high-energy four-piece band! Comprising of a powerhouse rhythm section, fronted by a captivating blend of male and female vocals. Apollo’s Chariot delivers an electrifying live experience that’s all about speed, upbeat vibes, and infectious stage presence. Edgy and enchanting. Armed with rich, resonant vocals and an acoustic guitar, Betty Lou blends traditional folk/blues with alternative rock. 2024 saw her debut single ‘You’re Mine’ gain her recognition as one of ‘BBC introducing Ones To Watch 2025’ artists. Now releasing new music and performing with her band, she is fiercer – and more formidable – than ever.
